Pulled a small block Chrysler engine that came from an early 80's Dodge car. It had been put into a 47 Plymouth using the donor car mounts. They are a great set up for a street rod. You put the two engine mount bolts and the transmission mount bolt in first and then just drop it in place. Nothing to align or holes to match up, it's all self aligning. Takes maybe 15 seconds to set an engine/trans assembly in. The head and nut of the mount bolts are the self locking flare head type and draw in under a shoulder on the frame mount brackets when tightened. The rubber mount on the engine looks a lot like a shackle bushing. Might be something to think about for your next street rod.
Thanks for the info, Evan! You know, sooner or later I will pull that 228 from its home and stick in an auto/V8, just because the 228 died an honorable death. It may be years from now, it may be by next summer. Who knows~ I think this sounds like something I need to be looking for and have at the ready, if it works for our old frames. So this set up comes from an early 80's Dodge? (Tell Classic Parts about this. ) Cool beans!
