hey guys anybody have a good way to repair or replace the rain gutters over the doors? mine are there but the bottoms are like swiss cheese. thought about welding strips in ., but afraid the metal is to thin. thoughts or ideas?
Hiya, Blue- That's way outta my field of expertise...I'll check with my bodyman Brent and see if he's had experience replacing them. I see our sponsor has replacements available...http://www.classicparts.com/1947-54-Drip-Rail-Left/productinfo/44-390L/...a bit pricey, but you'd probably get more than that in time trying to fix the existing ones. I suspect if they have enough clearance within the channel you could possibly plug weld them in, or maybe just tacking along the edge would be sufficient if the shape is not all in one plane. I'm sure there's some more experienced body guys that can advise on this- I did fix the ones on my Studebaker p/u using a TIG and some silicone bronze rod, 1/16", and that worked fine, but they were for the most part in pretty good condition. Danged thin, though, so a TIG is ideal to be able to really bring the heat down. Tom
Thanks Tom- Deadzone - should have known you would have some around. I will PM you when i have an idea of what i need. thanks Joe
