Happy Veteran's Day to all of you guys on the forum who proudly served this great country of ours! This is a very special and somber one for me as my baby brother-in-law is soon to be deployed to Iraq. I say "baby" because he's 6 months younger than me, and I'm 54! I'm very proud of my tank mechanic brother in law and hope that he takes my advise and wears his kevlar undies and gets home to the battle axe when his tour is over!

God bless this country, all my veteran friends and especially my little bro!

    Ken

    Thanks, Bro~

You know I'd do it again in a heart beat.

I don't love war, just this country.

Being able to be a "protector" was something I took seriously.

It was something I will forever be proud of.

    I love my country!;)

Ken,thank you for being thoughtful It will always be "Armistice Day" in our family until this generation is gone. I lost three uncles in WW1, two on the battlefield and one shortly after returning with lungs seared by mustard gas. When the armistice was declared on Nov. 11 my grandmother wept with joy.

    On A Happy Note :

California voters passed an initiative that creates a program to loan money to Veterans so they can buy farms and pay the loan back slowly over time...

I am hoping we'll soon get the Veteran's Bill I grew up with , back on track as America owes _EVERYTHING_ to our vets , no exceptions , it matters not if your hitch was spent on KP peeling potatos , you stood up and served , we will be ETERNALLY grateful to each and every one . free colldge education is the very least we can offer , along with affordable home loans .

BTW : Veterans Day is to give thanx and rememberance to the Vets who came back alive , Memorial Day is to honor or deceased Veterans , ALL are equally important , this is why we have two seperate holidays to honor them .

Did you guys hear about the owner of the biggest hotel in Las Vegas ? it's The Venice (? Venitian ?) and he opened it up to a whole bnch of injured Vets
, he flew them in with thier spouses FREE on his private 747 jumbo jet and gave them the run of the place , just to set an example of how America should honor its Military Veterans .

    HAPPY VETERANS DAY !!!! :)

    silence

We had our 2 min silence today at 11am, i was high up on a roof near central London, i stood up at the stroke of 11 and it was quiet, apart from the odd car or truck, very emotional, looking out over the city and seeing everyone standing still, some with heads bowed. I was proud that so many had observed the silence. We have a lot of people who knock our armed forces over here, but they forget, they dont decide where and when, they just do the job, and do it well with some not around at the end of the shift.

To all those who gave everything and the ones who were left broken....

    Thank You.

We can never repay you....but we will remember you.
