It's been a long time since my last post. The problems with the hood fitment frustrated the hell out of me, so I took a long break. Hood problem still persists but I have moved on, I'll get back to that later. I am installing a sbc and need to know what headers will work. any advise will be appreciated.

Could use a little more information. Still using straight axle and factory steering box? If you are and don't HAVE to have tube headers then a 1955 or 1956 265 sbc left manifold will clear the steering box with the engine centered; have done many this way. The way we do hoods is take EVERYTHING off the hood and cowl including the striker and latch release at the front of the hood, set the bare hood on and see if it fits the hole. If it doesn't then shims are used and cowl to fender rods are adjusted till the bare hood fits. Now add ONE THING AT A TIME (hinges, springs, latch, etc.) and check hood fit after each addition. If it gets out of alignment at any step you then know exactly where the problem is.
