Are the front parklamps supposed to remain on with the headlights? Half pull on the headlight switch is just running lights (front park lamps and taillights). Pull it all the way out and headlights come on, tail lights stay on, and front park lamps go out. Is this normal or do I need to replace the switch? I waited to post this till the new wiring harness was in, just to make sure there weren't any shorts in the old-pieced-together-with-old-extension-cords-and-anything-usesable wiring harness present when I got the truck. Thanks!

Yes your parklights are supposed to go out when you turn the headlights on.I don't know why they did it that way but all the trucks till about 1967.

yeah that is the way it is supposed to work. if you want the park lamps to stay on there should be a free spade lug connection that also goes to tail lights, just plug wire for park lamps there and they will stay on

Another easy way to fix this problem is to look at the switch itself. there is a brass plate that connects 3 pins on the bottom of the switch or inside ( cant remember) any ways the plate looks like a L, remove it and flip it over so you connect the once lone post and Viola. I did it 5 years ago, when I opened up the switch to clean the contacts. It really wasn't hard to figure out.
