Heater core / heater id

I get mist / fog when running heater. I have tried the stop leak material suggested in another thread to no avail.

1. does this look like a correct heater for a 52 3100?

2. Our host has a core for "fresh air heaters" I suspect this is not since no source of air.

the core is 8.5" x 6.5" x 3" Anyone know of a replacement source?

Ok found a panel in knee wall passenger side that looks original as it had clutch head bolts and the sheet metal match the surrounding material. Where there two heaters available fresh air and the one I have? Clearly mine has had some travels as there are numerous holes in the firewall.

The Master Parts Book refers to an "economy heater including defroster" (this is the recirculating heater with no outside air source) and a "air flow heater including defroster) that uses that hole in the panel for air supply.

Don't know about Chevy. Mine are GMC, one paper (55.2-60), one a .PDF file (39-53). Also, check out Old Online Chevy Manuals

I had to send mine off to Maine Radiator for a core rebuild. Not cheap, but they did an excellent job and very good service. I now run my truck with a 0 psi cap. Those "do-nut" cores are delicate.

If its ""delicate" as you say, or just thin,, its the ones made in China.
The shop probably just ordered one from the catalogs we all use.

I see you are in Florida so if your budget can stand it you might consider a heat/cool unit. Cooling is almost not an option but a necessity in Texas if you do much daytime summer driving. In the winter my well insulated old 37 Buick hardly ever needs the heater on if the sun is out so the heat/cool unit is provides more than enough heat. Having the cooling coils to pull out the moisture when unit is in the defrost mode keeps the windows completely clear, summer or winter.

Evan my truck is in Connecticut. I had the unit rebuilt at shop in New Haven, did a great job.
