"Heavy Half"? "Big 10"?

Hey guys!

What components make a "Heavy Half" C-10? Is it a beefed up suspension? Drivetrain?

Just curious, as I have seen "Heavy Halfs" have 5-lug rear axles just like my standard 1/2 ton. Please inform! THANKS!

 

you got it on the button heavier suspension and advanced drivetrain.

 

Just in the Rear leafs & shocks like a 3/4 ton.But has the reg Diff of a 1/2 Ton

 

My heavy half (83') has 7 leafs in the rear, short wheel base (82') has 4.
Rear end is probably a 10 bolt, if its a older rig it might have a 12 bolt rear end.

 

Well the 12 bolt 8.7/8 went from 73-81, 81 was the last year for the 12 bolt after was just the 10 bolt 8.1/2. That for the 1/2 P/u's


73-80 Big 10 came with 8 leafs from GM heavy duty shocks two.

 

it is heavyduty suspension and brakes and on some drivetrain if ordered

 

So the Brakes would be 11" or 11"5/32 on the 12 bolt 8"7/8 ring gear 1/2 ton 2WD one or two piece drive shift. The 13" would be the bigger diffs c/k20 up or maybe a 4x4 c10 .

11" R. Brakes measure 2" wide brake shoe
11'5/32 R. Brakes measure 2"3/4 wide brake shoe
13" R. Brakes measure 2"1/2 wide brake shoe

So far what I been told & seen big 10 were only 2/WD.
So was it also on the 4x4 1/2 ton too for the big 10?

The info I have been givening has been for the 1/2 ton 2WD's 12 bolt 8"7/8 ring gear.
