I am trying everything to get my rear brake drum off, I loosened the star adjuster all the way, hit it with a ball peen hammer, used rust penetrant on it, and the damn thing won't budge. It is on a 1960 1/2 ton pickup, is there something else I have to do to get these darned things off?

I had the same problem on my 62', the emergency cables were froze enufff were the brake pads caught the inner lip on the brake drum. I hope this helps.

Does the rear wheels move? If so you might want to try to take a propane torch to them, just heat it up some but not to much.If sparks start coming off the brake drums, they are to hot. Also Before using the heating method make sure there is NO FLAMABLES have been sprayed prior to heating. Then take a small sledge hammer, or a hammer, then bang around the outer edge. See if that does work, if not the star adjusters might be rusty, or dirty and can't fully close.

If you need to replace the front brake drums, there are 3 rivets folding the brake drum to the hub. Grind off the 3 rivets to put on the brake drum.
