checkin in hope the people on this forum are doing good. i have a 1964 c10 with a 292 L6 original. my i am the forth owner of the truck. the motor is bored .060 over but the mechanic said i need to bored again to .080 over but i can not found piston that size. does anyone know were to get piston that size (3.955 x 4.120 x Compress. Dist. is 2.10 or close) thank for the help
Dan, 60 Over is about as big as you want to go and still remain reliable. Personally I wouldn't go over that. Time for a new block, or V8 swap... ( I'd look for a new block. I love them stovebolts.) dv
thanks thanks for the help i be putting a 307 in for now yes .060 over is a lot of bore but i did not do. and it would cost $600.00 to resleeved it. it is a good idea but a lot of money. and again thanks for the advice.
307 ?? !! Unless it's a freebee I wouldn't bother. I think the inline six is sexier and after resleeving, bottom end rebuild and a quick valve job that motor will purr. Rebuild that stovebolt and get another 100,000 trouble free miles. 305/307's are prone to valve guide failure with great frequency, and absolutly suck on gas milage. .....but, that's just my opinion... dv
