Yes you can!! I have a 1969 1/2 ton p.u. w/ the low hump that I changed to a 4 speed about 18 years ago. I drove it w/o problems for 4 years and put it into storage until this year. I am changing it to a 700R right now, so I am having to repair the hole for the shifter, but it was an easy transition. If you are changing to a truck transmission, a donor truck is your best bet. But if you are changing to a car tranny, what I used was a Hurst shifter and handle designed for trucks to clear benchseats and accomodate the difference in seating position. If you find a truck that came w/ a factory 3 speed, the driveshaft will be the right length, and have the right yoke for a muncie car tranny.-Jeff
