I am rebuilding a 1963 283 and need some help. It did not come with the piece that plugs into the block behind the distributor. I believe this is a breather of some sort. Also, there is a hole out the side of the mount where the oil canister screws onto and I don't know what goes there. Any help would be appreciated. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

That hole behind the distributor on my 1967 283 block we just put a freeze pug thing in my block they sale them at the parts store they are real cheap .That hole by the mount were the oil canister screws ,that hole is for a thing called a Z-BAR that is for standard transmissions to hook to. You will need to find another block with the Z-BAR and put it on your 283 block. Good Luck hope that imformation helps out.

" that hole is for a thing called a Z-BAR that is for standard transmissions to hook to. "

The Z-Bar is for the clutch pedal hook up. One side goes to the block, the other to the frame rail.
