Does anyone know where information on High Sierras is? I am trying to figure out what makes a sierra a high sierra. I don't know if it is where it was made or just a trim package or what, so any info would be great. Thanks!

    Hi!

Where a vehicle is made usually has no bearing on its model name, especially if it's built at multiple plants.

To the best of my knowlege, High Sierra is a trim package. I was looking up my '84 on Kelly Blue Book last night for record purposes. (I won't be ready to part with her for quite a while... It'd take an awful special vehicle to do the trick!) ;)

As I went through Year<Make<Model<Trim Level, I noticed that Sierra Classic was second to top and high Sierra is right above it. My Sierra Classic has power everything, more bells and whistles than you'd expect on a mid-80s truck. Such a great truck, everything on it, I can't imagine what they could do better on a High Sierra!

Hope this helps. Do you have a High Sierra? What year is it?

Hey there, I was looking back through the posts when I noticed someone had replied to mine from back a while.

Yeah, I have a 76 High Sierra 400 1/2Ton. When I bought it it had a 350 and the original 400 was nowhere to be found. I've been looking for the big block for some time now. For now the 350 will do I guess, but I'm planning on restoring it this summer. or at least starting to.

Well, thanks for the reply, by the way what part of Kansas are you from? I actually live by McPherson myself. Thanks and later

I have a '73 GMC , but I don't know what model it is. I know it is a 1/2 ton, 2whl drive. 350 4bbl carb. It has a Tachometer, power windows, power door locks, cruise control, tilt steering, I think the power windows and locks were added in after cause I heard they weren't available til '78, is that true. Can anyone tell me if this would be a Sierra, Sierra classic, or High Sierra? Or even a website that describes this stuff in detail. Thanks for any help, much appreciated. I need to know what emblems to buy for this as I am restoring.
