    casting # on the block indicates that it is a '58-62 235. The casting # on the head is also that of a 235.

    The serial # by the distributor pad breaks down as follows: "f" flint, mi assembly plant "0629" means it was built on June 29th "j" is the designation for 3100 regular prodution.

    Thanks again! Who sells a good quality cost effective overhaul kit? Trans was full of water engine seized can not get bell housing off inner bolts blocked by fly wheel going to pull head try to free up from top so I can mount on a stand any words of caution? I have built multiple 305 350 over the years this is the first 235 or in line 6.

    Got the head off 4 of 6 have been filled with water many times appears pretty rough.I wet every thing down with pb blaster I will lightly hit walls with wet or dry 220 try to get pistions out lightly hone & see if it is worth while.will try to past pics later this eve Joel:eek:
