Well, I've got my guages in and working, but am having the devil of a time with the horn. I'm using our hosts basic rewire kit and have it wired up per our hosts instructions, but they aren't very clear about wiring the horn relay. I'm using the original fuse box, and have a new 12v relay, the horns bark when connected direct from the battery, so I know they are OK.

Does anyone have, or can someone draw, a simple line wiring diagram showing just the horns and relay wiring? If I find that my horn button on the steering wheel isn't working, I'll just use a push button switch on the dash, but I need help to understand the correct wiring. Thanks.

Start with this drawing from the Factory Assy Manual.

Thanks Ken. I'm not using the regulator, as I'm now 12v alternator. I tested running the line shown to the regulator directly to the battery, but the relay heated up pretty good...

I don't have an AD schematic to work from so this drawing is pretty generic.

On a TF truck the "always on +12" is connected to the hot side of the starter solenoid with no fuse or other protection device. Horns pull a LOT of power. I've never measured one, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were 30 amps or more. The horn relay should be exactly that, not some general purpose 12 volt relay.

I had a devil of a time myself with the relay or more correctly without the relay. It only takes one time without the relay just right and fry up that little spring in the horn contact. I went through three of them before I figured out what was going on. You can get a good spring from some hardware stores believe it or not. They are a little stronger then a ballpoint pen spring. Who the guy with the quote "Experience is what yo get just after you needed it". I also had to grind down one of the rivets in the horn ring itself as it was not allowing it to make contact. Right now I'm good, as long as you hit the left side of the horn button!#%^&$
