I have a 1950 chevy that has been sitting for a couple of years that I am trying to start. Turning over, checked for spark (looks weak), still all 6v (keeping her original), can see that the carb is giving gas, she isnt even coughing.

After trying for a bit I notice the coil is really warm.

    Tips?

Do a spark check ~ it sounds like the lead from the coil to the points is grounding .

Use a test light to test whilst cranking the engine .

Gap .016" or 33? Dwell , timing to ball on pointer and don't even try to start it until you've adjusted all the valves .
