How do you degrease??

Have a seal leaking on the transfer case and has slung oil everywhere.

How do you degrease your vehicle (just bought it)??

I have been using those can's of engine degreaser, and they work, but it get's kinda expensive (it is a 1979).

Go to home depot or your local Ace Hardware and see if they have Trisodium Phosphate or TSP. It is used for cleaning a variety of greasy things. You can strengthen it by adding some lye (sodium hydroxide), which some grocery stores sell under a brand name called Lycons.

Mix about two pounds of TSP and a pound of lye to five gallons of hot water in a plastic pail. Mr. Clean or Murphy's oil soap helps also, and you can dump a bottle of either one in too. Be real careful with the lye if you use it because it will splatter and get hot when it dissolves. Wear rubber gloves, eye protection and a cheap rainsuit, take a long handle brush and repeatedly scrub the undercarriage. Wait about an hour and blast it off with a pressure washer if you have one. Do not use on any polished aluminum parts because the solution may frost or etch the parts.

This has worked well for me, and I've even cleaned greased up driveways with it. As always, use common sense and caution with any chemicals.
