Hello,
how much oil do you fill into the differential housing. Its a Chevy 3600 build 1953.

Your 3600 would have the same differential as a 1952 GMC 150 series truck. This is taken from the 52 GMC Owner's manual. It should get you close. But the better answer is "until the oil falls out of the filler hole".

Actually ;

Because rare earth magnets are -so- cheap these days I put one on each plug .

Interestingly, I get rougher looking SWARF on the drain plug, *much* finer on the filler plug .

IMO, you cannot have too many magnets in the oil .

This may sound like a dumb question but are there specific magnets for adding on plugs and how would you attach?

GOOD QUESTION ! .

I use the small disc shaped rare earth magnets from Harbor Freight, last time I bought them it was $6 for a tube of 5 .

If you don't have a drain plug put one on the inside of the fill plug .

Never, EVER be sorry about asking a question ! .

The magnet will hold itself in place .

I like to remove the magnet for cleaning every year and slide it off the plug and use a clean white towel or paper napkin to get it as clean as I can .

Don't forget to add a magnet to the engine's oil drain plug too ! .

Magnets can always help...a few years ago I was reminded of those little square lead like pieces put in gas tanks...can you guess what they were? I kinda recall seeing lots of ads back in the 50s or 60s that they were supposed to be for improving power and gas efficiency. I also remember actually putting those into gas tanks but had forgotten that, till I was trying to figure this puzzle out. Another puzzle and another memory recalled.

The magnets added to the fuel lines or placed around the spark plug wires are snake oil crap .

A magnet inside any liquid device is a prophylactic measure that will help, even in modern and brandy new vehicles .
