Yes , it was posted here a while back if you hunt for it .

Also , Chevrolet Obsolete in Ga. ,has very good technical pictures in thier OnLine catalog .

I've got this one. These are actually Zigs breaks that he gave me. His are rebuilt and clean a work great on my truck.

Larry thanks for reminding me. My picture is for a 3/4 ton GMC 51 or 52 brakes. I believe Zigs is a 51 and mine is a 52. They looked to be the same as my old ones.

Volker - Is your emergency brake connected and working? The mechanism is connected on the opposite side of the backing plate from mine.

yes the emergency brake works very fine. please take a look to the right side of the brake and you can see the brake cable

I guess there's two ways to skin a cat! Mine's working fine too. I re-assembled everything the way the DPO had it put together, installing new cables, shoes, cylinders and lines.

Hey guys the springs that hold the shoes where do they hook to i cant tell where they hook to i asume to the backing plate but my backing plate doesnt have any small holes to hook to or is there a part im missing. thanks ron

Ron - I can't remember if there was a small slot in the backing plate or if the slot was in a clip attached to the backing plate. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos showing the condition and the brake rebuild was almost two years ago...

Im trying to find out where the pin through the spring FS-222 on your picture attaches to I have no holes in my backing plate I sappose i could drill them.

I'm trying to figure this one out ~ when you took it all apart there were no shoe hold down springs ? .

Huck Hold Down Springs

That's got my curious , I've not had any Huck drums off in many a year , and in looking at the various pictures and trying to recall , I wonder of maybe the fact that the shoes are pinned in place by those wretched link things at the bottom , means the hold down spring wasn't always used.....

I'd not be drilling any holes nor making other changes just yet ~ don't you have a copy of the FSM for your truck ? they're cheap @ $29.95 and usually pay for themslves the very first time lookng at them solves a question like this...
