I want to convert my 1964 3/4 Chevy to disc brakes but it has that Hyd twin master cylinder. I would prefer to keep my "Granny tranny" but will convert auto if I need too. My question is can I convert from a hydraulic clutch to a mechanical clutch? Can I just swap in a bell housing that has the shift fork on the other side and convert to linkage? Are the pedal assemblies the same or do they need to swap also? I want to eventually end up with PDB with a dual line master. I use this truck as my work horse and also tow a car trailer with it.

Hi Steve. I suspect that you can as that is the exact setup I have in my 64 panel. I got it with a single jar master cylinder, granny 4-speed. A previous owner made the swap to the granny as it was a three speed column shift. ( and it was not performed well, a real hack job on the trans-hump)

Anyway, I replaced the trans hump, and put in a one piece drive shaft.

I later put in a complete Early Classic power disc setup with drop spindles.

So I think if you head out to the bone yard and grab the bell housing from a 72 or later with a granny and grab the z-bar setup for the clutch linkage, you should be good to go.
