I just bought a 1954 Chevrolet, 5-window cab short-bed truck with a 235 engine and original Hydramatic transmission. It has only had one-family owned and is located in Tomahawk, Wisconsin.

I am now starting a new journey, but for me, you have all taught me a lot, and still will for this restoration.

Will post pictures and progress along the way.

Can't wait to see the pics! If it's driveable, spend some time driving it and learning about it. Don't get caught up with having to tear it all down and rebuilding it all at once. Way too many people start that way then feel overwhelmed and ultimately give up on it!

    ENJOY!

Congratulations on the addition to the family. I suggest you take the time to document with photos where you find the truck, if possilble. Hold on to what you find in glove box and under/behind the seat. Ask for as much info as you can get from the current owners. That way, as you drive about town and all the old fogies like me come up and talk to you about it, you will have some neat stuff to talk about.
I am bidding on one on ebay right now that is about an hour from me. I can afford to pay a little more cause I don't have to pay someone to bring it to me. If I get it I plan to get it in driveable condition then drive the crap out of it. I have been the route of having one for 17 years in pieces then fixing it up so well I can't really use it. Next time I will make it a driver.
    Again, congrats.
