Well about the time i got started on my 47 pickup the people that gave me the truck suddenly desided that they wanted the pickup back for some reason. They gave me the truck when i was 12 and now im 17 so i really hate to give it back but i never got a title it was burned and there in my family by marrage so i have to give it back becasuase i dont want a big fight or me to put money into somthing that is not mine. so now i have alot of parts and no truck haha. does anyone out there know were i can get a truck really cheap i dont want a really nice one just mainly a body and frame. I want one to replace my old truck no paint not fast and not a chick magnet just somthing that i can play with and say yea thats my old truck and maybe some day do a full restoration.

well im from southland texas wich is about 20 miles south of lubbock. I love old cars and trucks. my grandpa is an old mechanic and i love building or fixing things with him. I had a 47 chevy pickup that i was going to put a 350 in because the original 216 block cracked but the people want the truck back. I learned how to fixe engines on this truck it was even my first standard vehicle to drive. I would like another one really bad

    Truck Needed

Hey Rod, welcome to the site. My daughter is 16 and loves real trucks. Hers is 53 3100. She is a nut about working on them and getting her hands dirty. uhh, should I say to another one so close to her age that "she looks good in grease also" ;). Well anyway I have aquired a few of these old rides and enjoy working on them as well. Anywho, well keep our ears open, how far are you willin to haul one? There should be lots out there that are still in relativly good shape since it is so hot and dry.

Fill us in and we'll try to help ya out.

    The Boops Dad

BTW - my daughter is the Boop :)

    Plenty of trucks?

Let me retract that last remark about "there ought to be plenty of them around" uhhhhhhhhhh I just found you on Google Earth,,, I don't think there's but about 10 streets in your town.... you might HAVE to drive a while to get one. But we will still help you out the best we can.

A man without a truck.... well he just ain't a whole man anymore.

Even the Boop says "now this is a mans truck" refering to her 53. :D

    Are your family farmers?

    Highway 84

Hey Rod, I just looked back at Southland Texas and with my keen observation skill I was quick to notice that highway 84 runs from Rusk To Southland with unbroken dedication... for a total of 475 miles. Huh, thats no hill for a stepper now is it.

Wow, am I sharp or what......... DON'T ANSWER THAT!

The only thing i have to say about that is: grandfathers and dad's don't live long enough to teach you everything you need to know about WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW! Look, listen, and learn from them, because they are what perpetuates what we do! Man, that's even too profound for me to comprehend right now! I think i'll take myself to bed now!

old trucks in my neck of the woods

hey 47, i'm not far from ya there, in alamogordo, nm. 2 hrs west of el paso, tx. there are plenty of old trucks in our neck of the woods, in fact i know of a few around here i've had my eye on for some time. there's gotta be some finds in lubbock, and if not, definately el paso. if you feel like coming this far out, i can show you a few, but i'm not for sure they're for sale.

i have found a few around here but some of these people are trying to get ritch by selling them. I know these old trucks are worth money but some of these people around here are just plain stupid. i was given a cab a while back but I think is too far gone to mess with theres not much left of it.

47chev, sorry to hear about your situation. Not to change the subject, but have you talked to them about why they want your gift back? Now that you have already purchased parts, etc. Might they be willing to sell it to you cheap, especially since you have had it for 5 years, and there is no title to prove it really is theirs. I know all about the family by marriage problems, and hope you can work it out. I might even mention to them that you'd be willing to sell it back to them, as it was your favorite gift, etc., etc.
    I hope it works out.......Mike
