Every morning as I head into Joplin Missouri I see a beautiful site. It is usualy around 7:05. The sun is just starting to paint the sky with oranges and yellows of a new day. I start up the hill heading out of Galina when I see it going the other way. A BEAUTIFUL blue 50ish Chevy truck. It sets low, I think it even had a tad taken out of the hieght of it's cab. Chrome, slick blue, low, and a daily treat for my eyes! (Unless it's snowing...) All I can think about is when I'll be able to be driving mine instead of my Blazer... Sigh. I know the truck lives in Joplin, so if it's reading this site- WELCOME! (and post some pictures so everyone can see your ride! It's awesome!)
Repent, You Sinner! Have you forgotten the 11th commandment? Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's truck! Mom's not going to be happy with you!
I pass by a church shortly after that and I always pray for forgiveness- for I am weak. I also give thanks that he watches out over me and keeps those cars ahead of me moving so I don't turn my eyes loose from that AD only to see the back end of a stopped car right in front of me!
real trouble As if my blue truck problem wasn't bad enough, last night as I was heading out of Joplin, around the corner of a side street flies this black 5 window 50ish Chevy truck! It hops out onto 7th street and zoooom- off down the road it scoots! I'm like, "WOW! I gotta see that up close!" So I try not to pay attention to the fact that my speedometer says 80 something, but the signs say 55... But I DO catch up! What a cool truck! No doubt it had V8 power and could run, but the good news is, he had the original I-beam front end, and at those speeds, he didn't look like he was having too much trouble keeping it between the lines. Ah, life is good! I'm dying to see a car show so I can check out some more ADs in real life, and now suddenly I don't only start seeing them on the road daily, but I get to run with them! It's all just too cool!
I'm not sure how you can love an AD and not be a member of this site... I had a chance encounter with the blue 50 something at the one stop light in Galena, Kansas. We both got to the light at the same time. (opposite directions) It IS chopped, dropped, and slick as a whistle. It has the one piece windshield. No chrome center piece. What a truck! I was waving wildly at him, but (probably good for me) I don't think he was looking. His passenger side tail light is out. He probably just needs to flibb it and it will come back on. See? I'm still trying to lure him out!
Zig, you remind me of Richard Dreyfus in American Graffitti chasing the elusive blonde in the T-bird! I hope you never catch that elusive AD, because if you do, you're liable to be disappointed. Keep your distance and dream!
Well said big brother! I have that movie and now I think I'll plug it in. I never really checked it for ADs the last time I watched it...
"Yah- that's my car ya got yer butt parked on..." Classic line- classic movie! I got popcorn, cheap wine, and a daughter that will ensure we can't watch the movie if you want to come over!
Early Morning Ride I love those early morning drives when I get to see the sun coming up and breaking over the horizon , it the time is right , I'll be on the 134 freeway outside of Glandale , Ca. and I can see down across Los Angeles sleeping as the reddish light washes across the houses and floks.... Reminds me of how good it is to be alive .
