Received this e-mail from Rob Jenter on an old truck e-mail list today.

Thought I'd share it with you.

    Group--

Several years ago I brought my 1950 3100 I'd restored up to Bob Adler's place in Stephentown, NY for a brake job. (For those of you who are unfamiliar with Bob, he's pretty much the world's foremost expert on Advance Design trucks). While we were discussing the work, my wife, a painter and photographer, took many pictures of his large collection of Advance Design parts trucks, in his "field of dreams". She then surprised me by making a booklet of those photos as a gift, which I liked so much I turned it into an interactive web version on my website, www.chevyrust.com. (The last picture in the booklet/website is me in my truck.)

Since then, she has been creating paintings based on those photos. The watercolors are featured in a catalog booklet she's put together of her paintings of the "Chevy Rust" series, and she's also selected some of the best for a calendar. The 2007 calendar is still available, and she'll be putting together a 2008 version, too, which are available for modest sums. (As with restoring old trucks, this is not something one does to make money...)

Bob was so excited with the paintings in the calendar, he told us he ran out to the field to locate the trucks for each month.

If you love the Advance Design trucks, and can appreciate the beauty in unrestored, decaying but still beautiful shapes and colors, you should take a look...

    Thanks,
    Rob Jenter

(For those of you with dial-up connections, it will take a few minutes for the Chevy Rust booklet photos to load—but you can click on the links to the watercolors while you are waiting...)

Impulse buy! I ordered one of the calendars on my wife's urging. I am sure each month will end up framed and hanging in my basement somewhere. Of in the shop. Anyway, thanks for the link. She took some great pics!

Wow ~ I finally was able to see the photographs that inspired the killer watercolors ~ @ my work , the photobook doesn't even appear on the page ! .

I'm here @ SWMBO's house on her crappy dailup computer . those are some seriously rusty old trucks but the colors , wow .

I bet Bob has a LOT of hornets & yellowjackets living in there too :D

Maybe you could go back in the winter and take some snow pictures....
