    Guys,

1972 350 engine with two wire HEI, One wire tack other Bat connection, the starter has three terminals the big battery one (center) the Solenoid and the R (resister).

But my starter switch has battery connections, accessory SOL and two Ignition, IGN #1 and IGN #2, the HEI Battery go where, seams like it will turn but no start?

    What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance.

Steve, turn your ignition switch to the on position then take your test light and see if the wire to the HEI battery side lights up. Now keep in mind that this wire will probably only light up when the key is in the "on" position and wont light when the ignition switch is in the "start" position. Now the "R" side of the silinoid is what"s called a "hot start" wire and only lights up when the ignition switch is in the start position, generally this terminal is used to send a full 12 volts to the coil by bypassing the ballest resistor on a points system. What you want to do is run a wire from the "R" side of the silinoid up to the battery side of the HEI and tie it in to the wire from the ignition switch. Remember that you don't need a ballest resister with HEI ignition. I think what's happening is that you are not getting any fire when the ignition switch is in the start position. If everything else is correct like timing and fuel it should start. It only takes air, fuel and spark to make one run, I hope this helps....Big Tim

Big Tim, thanks for the comments, after some rewiring and a good ground as well as correct plug wire installation, (number one wire was not on number one plug, $#%@!)

Now some minor adjustments, clean up my wire mess and I am ready for TAGS!!!
