Tomorrow, June 6, 2007 marks the 63rd aniversary of the invasion of Normandy, the turning point of WWII. We, as Americans, and our good friends "across the pond" (Neil, Mel, etc) need to reflect on our good fortunes. "Oh crap, here's another one of Ken's rambling, patriotic messeges" Be that as it may, the world sacrificed a helluva lot for us to have the right to do what we're doing right now. Long story short, if it weren't for the GI Joes, the dog faces, the leathernecks, we could very well be speaking German or Japanese right now and be forced into a life style that we would not be very happy with. Take time to reflect on that and if you ever have the opportunity to go to New Orleans, take a few hours of your time and visit the D-Day museum, pick up a Steven Ambrose book and read it, and thank God that we can live the life's that our fathers and grandfathers fought so hard to preserve for us. I, for one, am proud to be an American, and I am very proud that my grandfathers and most of my uncles served our country in WWI and WWII. Enough of my ramblings for now, but just think, Veteren's Day is not far off. I'll have another rambling, patriotic "babble-on" in November!

Preach on, brother. I for one will never tire of hearing about how we are able to live free.

Ken, the Germans are getting even tommorrow, D-Day, June 6th. My wife is flying to England for a two week invasion. Seriously, we owe so much. Three of my fathers older brothers were lost in WW1, two directly in action and the third from gas induced lung damage shortly after returning home. There were ten boys (and three girls) in his family so that was 1/4 of the family gone. A high price.

    Thanks, Gater!

All of my heroes are gone now, and it's the only way I have to cope in this BS world!

So much is lost with time!

With each generation, so much is lost! I remember going to school in the late '50's and early '60's learning about the great wars (If you can call them that), but now, you pick up a history book or an encyclopedia, and you might get 1 paragraph about WWI, another one about WWII, Korea and Vietnam are merely footnotes. What a shame! I will not get politically about this, merely historical, or hysterical! It cuts me to the bone that today's kids don't give a $hit about what it took to get us here! I'm beginning to sound like my parents, so I think i'll say goodnight, and in the immortal words of Walter Cronkite-And That's the Way It Was. Sleep good tonight America, your Military will keep you safe!

Lots of things to say on this subject but I won't, just say that its a shame that todays politicians and our kids dont have the moral fibre that they had in those days, We had a lucky escape back then, mainly due to lives laid down for freedom and liberty, I for one will give thanks

Ken~ I hate to say it, but with the things that are lost, so seems to be the reason for going in the first place. WW1, WW2, was there a reason? duh!
    Korea? mmmmmm..... Viet Nam????
The closer we get to present, the more obscure that issue gets.

I actually called Colorado to let them know that if they needed a member of the 823rd to go kick the friggin' yahoo's butt and all his yahooers, call me! PLEASE! What THEY did, needed ~AND STILL NEEDS~ serious action!!!
But no~ let's roll into Sadam's home and leave the gate wide open behind us so we can show the world what cool gadgets we have.
WHAT does Sadam's land have that "Ben Laughin's" doesn't? Oyealll. (oil)

I wore the uniform, I was ready to go. (Still am- to hunt down and put my foot on the throat of Ben Laughin'~) Other than that, as long as we don't take out stuff on those men and women that put there lives on the line for (now) our safety. Just like in Nam. Those guys bore the brunt 'cause they couldn't hide the 35-10 haircuts. They were the easy targets for desions made that they were sworn to uphold. Thankfully, I don't get the feel that that is going on again. The only one who needs a wake up call is the leader of this country. He needs to remember why we've been to war in the past and deside if this is REALLY worth the sacrafice.

    Sorry mom~ Ken started it!
