Installing bedwood;

I am installing a new bed in my 1965 Long bed Step side the washers used to bolt the bed to the frame are off-set and the hole is star shaped? Do they need to be positioned in a certain direction?

This is why the holes for said washers are counter sunk .

If you're making your own bed wood , search the older posts as many have done this before and posted pix and illustrations on how to do it properly .
