Hello, I want to introduce myself. My name is Mark, and I picked up a '62 pickup yesterday. I have had a few trucks in the past ('54, and a '48), so I am not new to the truck world. My question is, I am trying to get my fuel guage working. The wire is missing from the terminal on the sending unit, but it is still attached to the guage. It is cut somewhere behind the Instrument panel. I am having trouble getting the cluster out. I have removed the screws from the bezel, but it still won't budge. I am also looking for a wiring diagram of the fuel guage circuit. Thanks for any help that you can give.

Hello MG, Welcome to the forum.

If you plan on keeping this truck I highly recommend getting a Factory Service Manual. With that in hand, you can tackle most everything you will ever need to do. It also contains all the wiring diagrams.

Your guage cluster is most likely hung up on a few things. The speedo cable needs to be disconnected, as well as the oil pressure line. It's also best to pop all the bulb sockets out of the back of the guage pod. Pop off any electricla harness connectors from the back of the cluster too, like the amp guage, etc etc

Next, the headlight switch and the ignition switch.

The ignition switch is pretty easy, just back off the switch benzel and pop the switch through. The headlight switch will give you fits.
Reach up and feel the switch with your hand. On one side of the switch behind the dash you will feel a small button. When you found the button, pull the headlight knob out fully, press the button in, then pull the knob and shaft out of the switch. Remove the benzel and pop the switch through. Remove the wiper knob by finding the allen set screw on the side of the knob, back it out, uncrew the knob, remove the switch benzel and pop the switch through.

Once all that stuff is removed the cluster can be pulled all the way out.

You don't need to pull your gauge cluster on your truck. The wire you are missing Ddoes not connect to the back of your guage cluster, but instead the wire runs from the sending unit down the left side of the cab, under the door seal(chrome metal plate), and the connects into the fuseblock.
