    Gentlemen,

I am having difficulty removing my intake valves from the head. This is a 56? GMC 270. The exhaust valves were easy. I compressed the springs a little, removed the keepers (retaining locks) released the valve spring compressor and every drops right out. I am obviously missing something on the exhaust valves. When I compress the springs the rotator cap and the retaining locks stay fixed to the top of intake valve stem. The only thing I see in the manual is the oil seal but I cant seem to find it and / or release whatever is keeping everything locked to the valve stem. I have enclosed some pictures if this helps. I realize this is probably something obvious and easy but I have been working on this off and on for a week and can't figure it out using caveman logic. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Figured out

Thanks to Mtneermike for his suggestion. Tactical (light) application of a hammer over a deepwell socket freed them up.
