No pun intended. 1938 Studebaker has it's transmission rotated 90 degrees with the shifter coming out the side of the case. This allows the shifter direct access to the rails and works in the same plain. Notice the drain plug is now on the side and the filler hole is now the drain. It is a Warner Gear T88 trans.
Studebaker tranny Evan , which car model or truck does this setup belong to? It looks like it fits very nice to the bell housing ! But photo nr.2 shows a drain plugg at the lowest point right ? Martinius.
Interesting I bet it allows lower floor pans too . Picture # 2 shows the drain plug is still on the lowest part of the tranny....
Nothing to do Well, I am sitting here off work because of the snow; here in the east, so reading old post and surfing, reading this transmission clocking post typical, "American Ingenuity" Look at it and then say "rotate it!" presto flat floor. Note: also resting from gallbladder removal last week.
Take it Slow ! Steve ; Too many of us hurry back to work and suffer in the long run , I am guilty of this because I had no health insurance when my Son was young so now I have a myriad of poorly knitted bones that ache , ugly scars and so on . Take it slow & easy , the truck and us will be here when you're feeling better .
