Well he she is guys still tearing her down and the guy that had her before me really did a number trying to repair her but I believe they did more damage than good. I have a fear that the floors, cab floor supports have been gone for so long that the firewall support is starting to droop or sag which may be an issue to get it back into shape Here is a website where I'm documenting the tear down http://home.comcast.net/~remock So what do you guys think? Repair her!
floor pans can be fixed.the front in around the windshield is a part you have to watch for rust thats unrepairable.
Maybe look for a doner cab? If the firewall is that bad, you might spend more time and money trying to get back in shape. I would keep the rest of the truck. Thats my 2 cents. Jeremy.
Other than the floor it dosen't look that bad. I would get some square stock and weld in some temporary supports before I did any thing to the cab. If the rust is up into the pillars then get a new cab. Either way you've got a job ahead of you.
No rust in the pillars So far guys to pillars look to be in good shape for the most part they are whole, both have some rust at the very bottom, but I feel that they are repairable. The previous owner replaced the rockers but only the outside the rest they covered up the firewall is not too bad just the section above where the floor pan attaches is rusted and one spot near the heater other than that the rest around the windows is in great shape from what I can tell will know more once the cab is cleaned but I seen nothing that pops right out. The cab corners are also rusted out whch is normal but they covered that up too so, who ever did this had no clue on how to fix anything they just popped the new corner right over top of the existing sheet metal and applied bondo they did it on the fenders too it is funny to see the fender and see how out of shape it is My other concern is the trans hump and it seems to be separating at the seam between the firewall and the floor pan where it was welded together. My fear is that it is falling forward sitting on the frame. The idea to brace is good I have thought about that and agree it would be a good idea, I will see what I can do before I go to much farther.
If the doors fit, you must acquit! I'm in agreement with Drabo... I haven't seen any pics yet of something that cannot be repaired. If your doors fit okay your cab is not too kattiwompus. With cab still on frame, brace the cab up so it doesn't sag down and cut out the bad stuff, one side at a time. Replace floor panels then cab supports on one side. Then do the other side. You may have to remove the outer rocker panels to put new inner panels on, I'm not sure.
