While looking on Craigslist I came across the following listing: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/cto/4870786221.html I called and spoke with the guy selling the wheels and he wants $400 for the 4 of them. He says they are off of his 54 and claims the gray primer paint shown in one of the pictures is the original paint from the factory. Based on everyone's opinion, is this a good deal to buy these considering I do not have original wheels and I need to buy a set? I have a meeting in Long Beach on Wednesday and I could at least go look at them. I know others have said they can be bought at Pamona but I usually don't seem to have much luck there with parts. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Steve, I've been checking wheels just by going through a google search. It seems I have seen m-a-n-y old wheels like ours for a lot cheaper than that. Of course, those have the hub caps too, I guess, but you might want to spend a few minutes looking through those first. Good luck!
I think I would divide his number by half. $50 each cash, but if he bites, take a friend. Craigslist nut jobs, you know...
6 Lug Wheels Are they 15" or 15" ? . Gotta be *very* careful with the rust thing Charles ! I got burned on two old Morris Minor wheels that looked o.K. in the photos , one had HOLES when I bead blasted it , the other has terrible deep pitting in the bead area , I doubt it'll hold air with tubeless tires . I prolly have an O.K 16" 6 lug wheel in my back yard if you want it .
He said they are 16" wheels. I am always nervous about buying anything from anyone on Craigslist. This guy seemed pretty unwilling to bend on the price. I do like the idea that I could see them and inspect them prior to purchase as opposed to buying on eBay and just hoping for the best.
