Now just remember and chime in the next time someone has similar difficulties.

When these trucks were in productioin they were not only the most popular truck in the WORLD but also folks hadn't been able to buy new trucks since early 1941 so there was a BIG pent up demand , brand 'F' ran two shifts to handle the folks who didn't have time to wait for a real truck , GM was making $ hand over fist and so unwisely decided to only run single shifts so there were never quite as many trucks to sell as there was demand....

Therefore , quality control went right out the window , kinda sad as these really are well designed trucks but the # 1 weak point was in the jigwork when the cabs were being welded up , most of the AD's you'll see have water leaks and did so from new , for some odd reason the passenger side door fitment was just terrible so if it closes , be happy , yes we all like the belt lines to match but it's a _lot_ of work , removing the door's skin then setting up the door in it's frame then ever so carefully re - welding the outer skin on so the gaps match and the belt line is good , then maybe the exterior door handle doesn't quite line up to the latch....

Whew ! . I don't bother with it but then I am lucky as I have one of the few that has near *perfect* doors , I was once offered big $ for my old beat up shop truck as John John was building a Hot Rod and he's way picky...

Pictures , we NEED pictures of your truck , old & dirty ,we don't care.
    .

Just imagine : three shifts cranking out AD trucks and derivatives in GM plants all across America.......OOooooooooo
