It's on the road again

After 6 months the motor is back in and running. I took the motor out to get rebuilt a 2 week job turned into 6 months. I think was a good thing summer is to hot around here not to have a/c. After a few set back like water pump leaking and master brake cylinder leaking getting them fix the truck is doing good. The only problem I have now is i bought a new vacuum advance for the distributor and it's not turning the distributor like the old one did before it went bad and the new one feels stiff. When the rpms are low it runs good but when you get around 2700 it start to pop and bang. Is there any trick to get where it should move easy?

It might be the advance arm that sits to tight or its not in the right position in the slot. The banging issue might be that the ignition setting point has to be adjusted ? Nate has had some excellent threads around the subject of setting the ignition and advance vacuum aswell on the 235 very recently.

On The Road Again

It is critical that with the engine off , the dizzy can be turned slightly by hand and it *must* snap back as soon as you release it .

If not , take a mement to see why not before you take it apart again .

Std. Ignition Products makes the new advance assemblies very affordably .

Maybe yours is simply poorly assembled.....
