hi all, i have a 1975 chevrolet 3/4 pickup that has only one tank. The gas guage would go to 3/4 of tank when full and the guy i got it from said he cleaned the sensor and thought maybe the guage was bad. I replaced the guage and first thing it worked like a champ but now when i am driving it the guage will start jumping back forth 1/4 tank at a time all the way to empty as the gas runs out. i checked the connector to the tank and it was tight. i though any ideas would be a big help. i thought about changing the sensor in the tank.
    thx in advance

I would check to see if there is a place where it might have a worn wire that could be touching or you can take out the sender and check it with a OHM meter it should check 0 on empty and 90 OHMs on full.
