On a recent trip to pick up a car a lady in the right lane decided to make a left turn, I guess she didn't realize I was pulling a trailer. It did prove what we've been saying all along--compared to our old trucks the new stuff are just plastic toys. My trailer slightly scratched the front of her Tahoe, the big truck in the background pulled the modular home over the back of it, and the cop gave her a ticket for illegal turn. If she had been driving an AD it would have ripped the bumper right off the Ranger instead of bending where the trailer ball mounts and one tiny dent.

    Gas prices

Looks like she was just trying to cop a free ride on your trailer to save gas. The tractor with modular home ran over the back of her truck?
Let me guess, they found a cell phone still cluthed in her white-knuckled hand?

I'm sure the truck driver was mighty happy about having his abilities tested.

    That's called "Profiling", Zig!

"Cell phone still clutched in her white-knuckled hand"? I can't believe that you, of all people, would lower yourself into making a statement like that!

Now me, I'd make that kind of statement! So Evan, did you see a cell phone still clutched in her white-knuckled hand? Inquiring minds need to know!;)

Let's not even go there!!! I run about 30-40 miles per week. Hardly a run goes by where I'm not almost hit by a driver with a cell phone pasted up against the side of their head. There outta be a law!!! Oh...wait a minute. There IS a law in NY. No hand held phones while driving. don't see the police giving out tickets, though. Few months ago a little girl in a small car came RIPPING aroung the corner of my old office and bashed right into the trailer hitch (big one with multiple heads on it) of my buddies truck. Cell phone in hand, her car ended up mangled on the front lawn. Buddies truck sustained minor damage. Did need a new trailer ball, though. No cell phones while driving. Get a headset. They're great.

    Andy,
I don't even trust a headset. I can be talking with a headset and still miss a turn off. I can chew gum and walk at the same time but I can't concentrate on driving and talking at the same time. I just think, if your cell rings while driving, answer by saying, "wait a minute" or "I'll call you back" then pull over safely and take care of it. It seems to me that half the people I see on the road and especially at traffic lights, are talking on a cell. How in the world did we survive before they came along?

I'm with you Gater. Profession race car drivers can do it, and maybe lots others, but driving is just to damn serious to take a chance on diverting attention. There was a 16 year old girl and her passenger that were killed here a while back. She was going down 69 highway, reached for her phone, forgot that when your hand is on the wheel and you move it, the car changes direction. She turned her car right into oncoming because she was reaching for her phone. The girl in the backseat lived. (the only one buckled in)
I don't have a cell phone- but I would turn the ringer off while driving. They will let you know if you missed a call. Unless you're on the road for a couple hours, I think it could wait...

Zig, I don't know if the phone was attatched to her ear when she made the quick lefty but I do know she didn't help herself with the cop because she was making him wait on explaining the filling out of an accident report, exchanging insurance cards, etc, while she stayed on the phone.

It was "totally" not my fault!

Call me a "profiler" if you will! I saw 2 teenage girls have a head-on in a parking lot 6 months ago while both on their cute little pink cell phones and got to hear both sides of it while I was stupid enough to stop and ask if they were OK. The most common word was "Be-outch". Sounded so cute coming out of their young mouths!
