Just wanted to introduce myself and my 54 Chevy 3100..I am new to the old truck scene and I have so much to learn and ask about her. I picked her up July 5th 2014 off of my boss at a steal of a price and I have been slowly getting her ready. Had to raise the seat since someone decided to mount the seat frame directly to the cab floor, I redid the brakes completely New Master, Hose, Cylinders, Shoes and Hardware)
Since we got the truck my Wife and I wanted to do a 2 tone paint job on the truck, so with the help of my cousin this past Sunday we started to paint. Still need to do the front fenders and running boards
nice work! good to see your putting your own touches on it. I see the pic with the truck in your garage. Glad to see that, I worked in Vallejo many years ago. Lock that baby up.
That is a great looking truck, thanks for posting the photos. And Welcome aboard enjoy the ride while here.
Welcome aboard! I like the color combination. Looks real nice. What power plant does she have? I see dual exhaust, that hints of V8 power. Appreciate the pictures. Thanks, Bill B
Mine has the 235 as well. When I went to get new exhaust, I had a straight pipe put on, and it sounds pretty good. Not too loud, either. (At least I don't think so)
Welcome to the site,, Very nice '54. I used to live in Vallejo also, but had to get back to this side of the bridge.
Mine is straight pipe also, im thinking of redoing the exhaust and quiet her down a little Thanks 3100powerglide.
Beautiful. That's my favourite colour combo. Combined with a 235 and dual exhaust, it makes my heart go pitter-patter. If she's got dual carbs and a vintage-style valve cover, I might just leave my wife for her. Good work!
Thanks RustyDog..More pictures coming up this weekend hopefully. Going to try and finish painting the running boards and front fenders, Thanks pmoron Dual Carbs are in the works soon. Not sure on what the vintage style Valve cover would look like
If you google image search dual carb 235, there are lots of cool project ideas. Offenhauser makes a cool one.
welcome Welcome to the board Mr Pico What a great truck to start with the fresh painted fenders look realy good what type of paint did you use? and do you have any pics of engine compartment? Again welcome Robert
thanks for the welcome LaTroca52. On the paint we used Deltron Solvent Based Paint. Here is the only pic I have of the engine is this one, its dirty from all the paint we have been doing
Doesn't look too dirty to me! I see fresh wire and loom, fairly fresh paint (without lots of oil) on the engine, and other signs that someone has cared for this truck. Very nice.
Finished laying the paint last night on the rest of the fenders and running boards..need to spray the clear today
