Light switch fuse

What does the little fuse in the light switch control? Instrument lights? I can’t seem to find a schematic that actual shows the fuse in the light switch.

The 55.2-59 GMC Maintenance Manual shows a 4A fuse in the light switch that protects the dash lamps. I think the Chevy is the same.
