Need info on 700 locking converter.
    I have a 1990 700 an want to put it in my 65 C10 behind a 327.
What do I need to do to make the converter lock up.
Is there a kit to help make this work that I don't know about?
Does my truck need a brain trans plant, Like me ???

Got any answers for this one Dennis.

    Funny you should ask..... ;)

You don't need a computer in the truck to make the lockup functional.
Read their information, especially the TV Cable 101 stuff.
I did this conversion about a year ago and used the lockup switch wired to the brake pedal. It works perfect.

It was, by far, the best modification I've done to the truck. A close second is power steering and power disk brakes.

What type of vacum switch did you us and off of what, I was told by my Transmision guy that I would need a vacum switch for this conversion, I already have the transmission in but need the overdrive switch assembly and vacum switch.

There is no vacuum connection to the 700R4. Are you sure it's a 700 and NOT a 200 R4 ? I'm not sure why he told you that.. ( ?? )

To do the conversion on a non-computer controlled vehicle requires a kit be installed in the trans that electronicly controls lockup with a switch.

With the switch in the ON position the trans will go into lockup when the trans fluid pressures indicate the proper speed of 45-55 range. The trans also needs to know when to electronicly release lockup. That function was done by the computer before.

The kits, when the switch is wired into the brake light circuit, will take the vehicle out of lockup when the brake pedal is depressed, even slightly. The lockup can be controlled manually with a hand-thrown switch but most don't like it because they forget to take the trans out of lockup when reducing speeds, and it's not too good on the trans either.
