Ken told of how his Dad's 34 pickup came back home after many years and now one of my old race cars has came back. I had one that we built with a 2 1/4" (?) open tube rear end that was very fragile so I was going to replace the rear with a 3" which is much stronger. My friend and engine machinist , Jimmy Allard, was ready to launch his new car and offered to sell me his old one for very little more than a new quick change would run. The car was a good one that was always at or near the top for several years till we built another all torsion bar car. This was in the early 70's so imagine my surprise when 40 years later I went to pick up my rebuilt flathead V8 and there it sat looking brand new. They have located about 15 of these old "Supers" and are going to have 10 races at the various tracks that will be fillers to the regular programs. A fun thing with the winner getting a whopping $200 and every other car in the race gets $100. Just about enough for alcohol for the racer and gas for the tow truck. Can't wait for summer.
