I have a 78 350 long block I'm putting together. I've heard lots of different things on the subject but no diffinitive answer. Is there another tube that goes into the dipstick hole and protrudes out into the oil pan? Separate from the actual dipstick and tube. If so. Do I have to put it in? (I don't have one and can't find one at the local parts store, cause they never heard of it.)
    Thanks for any help

I had the same problem so I just ran without one. All it does is keep the dipstick straight when you push it in, I finally went to a junk yard and found one in a scrapped block
