Maybe somebody can help.I have a 51 and the master cylinder is leaking, should I replace with stock or try and update it.I have drum brakes and thinking about going to disk on the front in the future thanks Frank
You have a few choices here - all from Chevy Duty. If you just want to fix the leak the rebuild kit will be the thing to get - I guess the cylinder isn't cracked and it's just leaking out past the seals. Or, if you do want a new cylinder, replacement masters are available. Or, if you want to move up to a dual, you can get CDs remote kit (which has a new dual master with it)and their matching bracket. Or, you can get a power boost add-on. But you need to watch these as I'm not sure if it doesn't mean cutting, drilling and welding depending on your particular truck. Some of the others in the forum will probably know better than I do. The disc upgrade kits will work with any of these -I think it's more the wheels and hubs you need to check. But me, I just stick with the drums. They work pretty well though I have once or twice been in situations where I thought 'this is as hard as I can push...'. I could give you the part numbers, but you'll have more fun searching thru the catalog. Mel
