Can Any One Tell Me About Mono Springs. I Have 54 Chevy Truck And Want To Change Rearends And Lower It.what Rear End Can Be Used And Are Mono Springs Safe.
Welcome! Welcome BAD 54! Lowering, eh? Want that bad sexy look, no doubt. Well, for starters, I assume it's a 1/2 ton you have. Mono springs were hot for a while, but I believe they are fading. Patrick's use to sell them. They lower your ride about 2 inches. There is a lot about this in the archives. The biggest problem is- if they break. If a leaf breaks, there's still help. If a mono breaks... The good news is, if it's the rear, you can still steer it to the shoulder. I, too, want the slightly lowered look. If our host sold lowered springs, they'd get my $$$. However, I'll be going Eaton Spring's way. I know I'll drop the front 2". The back... Anyway~ Check the archives on this. Good ideas/ good advice. In the mean time, post some pictures for us, K?
monoleafs I am running monoleafs up front on my 50. I have no concerns about them breaking. They do seem to be a little harsher than multiple leafs, due to the fact they have to be thicker. I have heard the stories about mono leafs being unsafe, but do not understand why? Regular multileaf springs still are only attached by ONE main leaf spring. There are a few companies that sell aftermarket multileafs, made to any spec you would like. You could also use lowering blocks as well. A lot depends on how much you want to lower, and what kind of use the truck will get. It kind of comes down to personal preference. Do some internet searching before deciding which way to go. Good luck....Mike
mono leaf 1bad54 i had my leaf springs dearched. 3 inches in the front and 4 in the rear my truck sits level. just my 2 cents. ROBERT
