Anyone know where to get replacement bolts for the forward 235 engine mount. They are the ones that are captive under the timing cover. They look like carriage bolts but have fine threads and a hole drilled in them for a cottor key. I'm sending my engine to the rebuilder and need to give him these to replace as mine are damaged.

    Thanks

Okay, I found the correct size but how do you drill the hole in the bolt with out messing up the threads.

A couple of sizes smaller than the bolt is the drill bit size then ever so carefully drill down the center of the bolt, use an easy out without breaking that off in the hole. Once it is out you run an die through it to clean the threads.
Sounds real easy. ,,, ,,, is there any of the bolt still sticking out? If there is then weld a larger nut over it and just back the thing out, after soaking it in something first to penetrate the threats loose.

To drill the hole for the cotter pin, if you can, run a nut up on the bolt past the point where you need to drill the hole. Drill the hole as cleanly as possible, then hit the threads around the hole with a wire wheel to remove any burrs. (Don't over do it though) Back off the nut across the new hole and this should 'straighten' any remaining buggers.
