Hi, I have a 1956 Chevy 3200 step side with a Chevy 327 large journal and I want to buy a 383 stroker kit for it but I was wandering if it would work well with that 327 block. Thanks

i'm sure that they make stroker kits for most any chevy small block but I remember reading that clearance has to be made on the blocks for clearance of the stroker crank. I used a 1970 block -350ci,and built a stroker.I expect that any engine shop could answer this question if you can do the same with 327.

The only way to make a 383 is to put a 400 crank in a 350, or buy a 383 crank and put it in a 350 block. You can probably stroke a 327 but not to a 383

A 327 and a 350 share a 4" bore. The only block differences were the early 327's used a smaller main bearing journal, shared with the 283. If you have the later large journal block it should work just fine for your stroker. All chevy did for the 350 was to stroke the 327 anyway. John
