Hi All.. I purchased an 80% complete 1959 chevy napco with some alterations. The previous owner installed a new chevy 350 w/a 700r trans. The issue i have come across is the 700r is much longer than the original manual trans, therefore mating the drive shaft from trans (much shorter than original) to transfer case is a major problem. I live in the sticks and brought it to what I thought was a reputable transmission shop and they recommended that i move the transfer case back, shorten rear drive shaft to accommodate a longer center shaft. Has anyone done this and could enlighten me any good advise?

    easy fix

hey try it.i don't think it would hurt anything.on my 55 truck I put Dana 44 front & rear diff and match transfer case .just a standard 4spd granny gear chev transmission .i shortened rear drive shaft and shortend transmission to transfer case driveshaft.course it's easier to take some off then it is to put some back in your case. good luck on a great find!!
