    Here are some more photos of my 53
    .It is a complete frame off rebuild .The frame and alot of other parts have been powder coated,the motor and trany complete rebuild.I found the truck in a field. it only took me 9 months to rebuild.

    That's every bit as clean as I figured it would be! Glad to see the six under the hood. For that short of time on a rebuild, I'd say you did yourself proud!:cool:

    i am new to this. I am Restoring a 1954 Chevy 1?2 Ton Pickup. this is my first antique Chevy truck project.it is going back Orig.Any advice/tips would be appreciated.

    ?? Where To Start ?

    Well ;

    I've worked on one or two of these trucks over the years :rolleyes:

    My best advice is : resist the urge to take it all apart , get it running well (easy) and do the brakes , slap some narrow , tall RADIAL LT (truck) tires on it and begin enjoying it whilst you sort out the niggly stuff like balky door latches and windows that won't close , wipers that don't , etc. etc. , then you can figure out if you want to do the full monty with paint and so on....

    Once it's painted it's difficult to do other repairs without damaging the shiny new paint....

    Remember this too : ' restored ' only means ONE thing : as original , color and everything else ~ no adding a heater or radio , 6 volts and on and on...

    Since YOU are footing the bills , I'd suggest building it how _YOU_ like it , the end result will please you vastly more , trust me . my budy built his '54 and added 12 volts and re-painted it copper :eek: he's won lots of show trophies with it , unlike my old beat to crap '49 shop truck .

    Be aware that '54's are a one year only truck so don't throw away ANYTHING until it's finished and has clocked several thousand miles ! .

    The best rubber comes from Steele Rubber co .

    All the how to info you need , will be found in my older posts and well backed up and improved by the responses of the other guys here , most of whom are real experts , I'm just a farm/used car/junkyard mechanic .

    O.K. ? look up what you need in the older posts then when you find it doesn't cover what's under the hood , ASK ! there are NO ' stupid questions " !!
