My Late Birthday Present

Last weekend as I was gathering parts for my '76 GMC C-2500 , I found an abandoned project truck with many new parts (and fresh paint !) including a new , shaded windshield with the embedded radio antenna , I'm on a budget (? who isn't ?) so I whined about it as my brother & I left the yard ~ he showed up to-day with a complete inside hood lock & release ~ it seems he'd gotten up early and tried to go buy me that new windshield but they'd decided to crush ALL the pre - 1997 trucks for scrap , yes , even the many with good running 454 C.I. V-8's .

So , he headed off to another yard I trade with and found me the inside hood release instead .

I'm stoked ! I think underhood protection is important .

This old $700 truck has whizzed right past the $2,000.00 mark and still needs paint but it purrs like a sewing machine as all InLine 6 Bangers do when they're properly tended .

Hood lock

Hey Nate, Happy B-Day
I had my hood blow up on me goin down the road about 45 mph in my '48 cheby driving down the road with my head stuck out of the side window till i slowed down enough for it to fall back down, and your comment made me think..........(that's hard)
Can you install a hood latch like on your truck to the hood on my truck?
Steeling is one thing but keeping the hood down while goin down the road is another! Don't want chains or bunjee cord, just wondering any body done this?

Ouch !

I hope your cowl didn't get too bent up .

There's supposed to be a safety latch but the little spring on it tends to rust away , my buddy made one with music wire for this very reason .

I dunno if you can adapt a cable release latch to your AD , I don't see why not as the upper baffle plate is large with plenty of room for adjustment .

I'd want to source up a spare upper baffle plate before drilling / bending / cutting my current one .

It is a simple thing to add a short length of chain to the baffle and use a padlock as a safety....(Farm fix)
