I replaced the battery cables and battery in my truck. I made sure all the connections including the short pigtail from the positive cable were tight. It started right up but I couldnt turn it off with the key. It whet off when i disconnected the cable but now when I just connect the battery cables the GEN light comes on even with the key in the off position. Any ideas?

Go over your connections at the starter. Something is wrong there....

Make sure the battery cable isn't touching one of the little wires on the smaller post.

X2...it sounds like the starter connections might be mixed. If everything there checks out, then I would start looking into the alternator connections for feedback sources. Good luck.
