RE: Need Help/Advice - gas tanks -
The tank in the picture is mine. It is a tank that is listed for the Mustang. 16 gallons, with drain plug. As seen it is mounted in a 1950 1/2 ton truck. I used a short piece of fuel filler hose to mount a Torino vented gas cap. The whole setup is mounted at the rear, between the frame rails, using 1 inch square stock. I welded the corners, and drilled and bolted the tank to the 1 inch frame I made. Works great, and was cheap. Here's the drawbacks: The bedfill works good, but you do tend to drip fuel onto the bed wood. The other issue is that Ford uses different ohms for the fuel guage. This is not a huge problem if you use aftermarket guages, but is not good if you want to keep the stock guages. Other than that, it is an easy project. If money is not an issue, I would recommend a custom aluminum tank, due to the fact they bolt in and the fuel sender works with no modifications. Hope that helps....Mike
