The problem: gauges in instrument panel that I can't find sending units for. I used to have a variable ohm generator(?) that had two parallel springs made with some kind of resistant wire. There was a bar that you slid back and forth on the springs to very the resistance but I can't remember how the ohm reading was made. Is there some kind of variable resistance rheostat like device that gives a reading in ohms? Example: if a gas gauge sender has a range of 30-90 ohms then if you can apply this reading to the sender terminal on the gauge the needle should move from empty to full or visa-versa. I have tried getting a reading from a temp sender submerged in water with a meter hooked up and heating but no luck. Same with an oil pressure sender and applying 0-60 regulated air. Ohm meter is a cheap HF unit. Thank you; Evan
Amp/Ohm reading. Yes there is a combination device for Amps and Ohm measuring. You have to switch the plugs over when measuring ! Remember wiring to neg. ground to get any responce in the meter. look for an manual on the internet if this does`nt work!
